TERMS OF SERVICE — Budgie
Last updated: June 2026
Effective date: NA
1. About Budgie
These Terms of Service ('Terms') govern your use of the Budgie mobile application and any related services ('Service'), operated by Budgie ('Budgie', 'we', 'us', 'our').
By creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Budgie. By signing up, you confirm that you are 18 or older. Budgie is designed for use in the United Kingdom. If you access the Service from outside the UK, you do so at your own risk and are responsible for complying with local laws.
3. Your account
You are responsible for: keeping your password secure, all activity that occurs under your account, providing accurate information during registration, and notifying us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, provide false information, or are involved in fraud.
4. The Service
Budgie provides personal budgeting tools including bank account connection (via Open Banking), manual transaction tracking, event planning, and community features.
Budgie is a financial management tool, not a bank. We do not hold your money, initiate payments, or provide regulated financial advice. All content in the app, including community posts and spending insights, is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice.
5. Open Banking and bank connection
Connecting your bank account is optional. If you do, you grant Budgie read-only access to your transaction history and account balance via a regulated Open Banking provider. Budgie cannot and will not initiate any payments from your account. You can disconnect your bank account at any time in Settings.
Bank access is provided by Finexer/plaid, an FCA-authorised Account Information Service Provider. Their terms also apply when you connect your bank.
6. Premium subscription
Budgie Premium is available for £2.99 per month (or the price shown at checkout). Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Your subscription renews automatically each month until cancelled.
To cancel, go to Settings → Subscription → Cancel Premium at least 24 hours before your next renewal date. Cancelled subscriptions remain active until the end of the paid period. We do not offer refunds for partial months, except where required by law.
7. Community guidelines
Budgie's community features are for peer discussion only. You must not post: financial advice presented as professional guidance, personal information about others, abusive, harassing, or discriminatory content, spam or promotional content, or anything illegal under UK law.
Content that violates these guidelines may be removed without notice. Repeat violations may result in account suspension or termination. All community content is peer discussion — Budgie does not endorse or verify the accuracy of any post.
8. Intellectual property
All content in the Budgie app — including the name, logo, design, code, and text — is owned by Budgie and protected by UK and international intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without written permission.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Budgie is not liable for: financial decisions you make based on the app's output, inaccuracies in categorised transaction data, delays in Open Banking data, data loss caused by third-party services, or indirect or consequential losses of any kind.
Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid for Budgie Premium in that period, or £10 if you are a free user.
10. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email and in-app notification at least 14 days before any material changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
